A Day out at Opéra national de Paris

A Day out at Opéra national de Paris

Opera or not an Opera, Palais Garnier, also known as Opéra national de Paris, is a must visit for everyone. For only €12 per ticket, this vivid and tastefully decorated architecture will simply take your breath away. No wonder it’s called the most famous opera house of the world.

We had an early start to the day to avoid running short of time before catching our evening trains. It was a beautiful day with sun out in full spark.

Although the scorching heat made us sweat throughout, a mere glimpse of the building was enough to soak us into the freshness inside and out.

Outside were birds chirping, people singing, everyone seemed to be caught in the beautiful and relaxing aura of the place.

Having not realised that luggage wasn’t allowed inside the building, we hopped around restaurants, pubs, shops and supermarkets with little hope seeking a place to leave our luggage. Almost after wandering for 2 hours, just when we had given up, to our utter luck we found this place called MONOPRIX.  Like we say kindness is still not dead, the lady staff at MONOPRIX was very kind to us, she heard us patiently, locked our luggage in and yay we were all set for Opera House. I wish I had taken her name down.

Ohh I missed out on the attire, haha. I combined my polka dots pleated skirt with a black top and paired it up with boots. Polka dots go with every season and it just makes you look all vibrant whilst spreading a summary and vibrant aura around. Boots, because rain was predicted and anyway with a ankle length skirt, boots add to the charm 😛

Inside the house, is what we call as stunning. The mesmerising chandeliers, paintings, frescoes, sculptures, and architecture will not disappoint. The main building with the picturesque ceilings and dazzling interiors is simply breathtaking. Incredible is the word. More than the words I guess, pictures would do justice. So there you go.

Tips:

Only phones are allowed inside the Opera House, so leave your luggage in the locker at a train station. It’s safer there.

Secure your tickets online to avoid the queue especially if you are visiting there on a weekend.

2 hours is enough to make the most of your visit.

Check the weather prediction and plan before starting your move. Weather is very unpredictable in Paris.
